Philip - System Management
What originally drew you to the company?
I started with Orbitel, a small independent mobile handset manufacturer, which was later acquired by Ericsson.
What projects have you worked on in your present job?
For Ericsson, I first led the Technology Group system studies into the integrated solution for a single integrated GSM/WCDMA/CDMA digital baseband ASIC architecture for satellite handsets.
I’ve been involved in developing the EMP system and associated ASIC architecture for many of the current EMP platforms. I’ve been the Technical Coordinator on a project, scoping ASIC requirements with 45nm providers.
And what is your current project?
Technical Coordination for a platform aimed at Open OS Smartphones.
What do you like most about the company?
It is a dynamic, progressive and generally political free environment with good cross-site collaboration.
What do you enjoy about your job? And what’s the single best thing?
Making decisions!
Where would you like your job to take you? What are the possibilities?
The next career step for me is to take responsibility for the System project management of a future platform project, and longer term move into a group/project team leadership role.
What would you say to people thinking of applying?
Ericsson offers everyone the opportunity to succeed.
