Dominic - ASIC Engineer
What originally drew you to the company?
Ericsson’s a famous name in Telecoms, across infrastructure and handsets, and is working in areas that really interest me.
What projects have you worked on in your present job?
My first job was working on the development of Satellite Phone Baseband ASIC’s, but more recently I’ve been working on ASICs for the company’s main platforms in GSM, EDGE, WCDMA and HSPA.
And what is your current project?
I’m currently working on the Baseband ASIC for an Open OS platform.
What do you like most about the company?
It has some great resources and some very experienced people working here, so you generally get the support and equipment you need.
What do you enjoy about your job? And what’s the single best thing?
We’re involved in a huge variety of products for different manufacturers and I get a buzz seeing my work making a difference in real consumer end products.
Are there resources or facilities that particularly impress you?
We can access a large array of tools and hardware technologies. And our vendor support activities provide us with some exciting work.
Where would you like your job to take you? What are the possibilities?
Personally I am looking for more technical responsibility in my job and to get in to new areas of technology I haven’t experienced before. Basically I want to extend my knowledge.
What would you say to people thinking of applying?
Ericsson is a large company so you can get involved in a wide variety of disciplines and activities. There are some great opportunities here.
